I guess the big news is that the dining room is gyproc'd (is that a word?) and the boys are at it again this morning. We could get the call that the kitchen is ready anytime - so we gotta keep movin'.

The hole in the bathroom is filled back in and another crisis averted....

The guy is coimg to install (or rough in) for the pellet stove today - so that should be good for a mess ;o)

Today they are finishing the last of the insulation. We were down to Halifax on Sunday and picked up the french doors for the recessed doors in the foyer. We also revisited the granite at home depot and we think we have made a change of mind to atlantic blue. It's a bit more neutral.
The plumbers were back in and we ended up having to jackhammer the floor up in the bathroom the move the toilet out from the wall a bit and move over to the left a little so it does not collide with the tub! They also roughed in all that is going to be in the walls and took the stick pipe up through to the attic! Hopefully the next time we see them it will be for final install of fixtures.

Another week of plugging along, a lot of little bits of the framing to finish and now we are told they are done...next is gyproc.

We had Aiden in to inspect the work and he approved. So we can move forward again ;o)

OK boys...time to get back to work....

Pluggin Along...

Some kinda boring pics, but better than nothing I guess. Here is the hearth stone, box with the pellet stove and all the flooring!

Pocket door framing

Here are the stairs, all original but the bottom 3 steps

This is the window seat in the living room.

Here is the nook in the living room and the insulation...
This week was spent getting the intricate parts of the framing done. The boys boxed in the window seat in the living room and put in two wall niches - one in the dining room and the other in the living room. We got all of the insulation up except on the front walls, we were waiting for a buddy to come and help put the framing kits for the pocket doors that will be in the foyer, he came today and now that is done! We had a few deliveries, we received our flooring, the pellet stove and the hearth stone that it will sit on.
We relaced the 3 bottom treads on the stairs and have to strap those walls, then they will be caught up.
We are now just waiting on the plumber and once they run their lines we can begin to put up the gyproc.

Kitchen plans...

Here are some shots of the drawings that were done up for the kitchen, it's hard to take pics of them so this is the best I could do. Guess you'll have to wait for the house warming party to get the real gist of it!

TOP: this is the wall with the flue on it, there will be a mantle over the range .
BOTTOM: This is the East end of the house

This is the back wall where the well was (all 17 feet of it)

Electrified!

Here are some shots of the wiring that is being done this week - yay~ trust me it's more impressive in real life!
We also PAID for the kitchen and it is now being built. While we were at Home Depot today we also picked out a tub and the rest of our light fixtures. So all in all this was a productive week.

Me at Home Depot doing the kitchen thing
We chose the Atlantic Green Granite

The last week has been busy. Home Depot called Tuesday and were ready to do up the final kitchen plans so the kids and I went roaring down to Halifax on Wed. only to find that the guy who does the computer mock ups decided to take the day off at the last minute. But we did get it all pencilled out and only had to make a few changes from my original measurements. I also added tambour storage and light rail. I had been having granite issues so I was glad to go down and see the stuff we had picked out and I still love it. I had been remembering it darker than it is....whew.
Anyways the next day we recieved the conceptuals and they are awesome, have to make one tweak around the fridge and then we are good to go!

The boys finished the framing and went right to stapping the ceiling and that is nearly done. Next for them will likely be ripping out the exsisting stairs and making a new set.
The electician is in this week as well, roughing in all the plugs, lights etc. So once he is done we can begin gyproc!

The kitchen has stuff...

Here are a few pics of the appliances that were delivered on Saturday. I know this isn't exciting to most - but it is to me. The bad side is that they all have to say sealed in their boxes til the dry wall is done ;o(( Hope I can make it til then. What we are having in the kitchen: All Fridge and All Freezer with a built in trim kit, slide in range, dishwasher, wine cooler, microwave . When we bought them from the Brick we also received a pot and pan set worth $300 and $800 worth of Hamilton Beach Eclectics small appliances (Blender, coffee maker, drink mixer and toaster) We were supposed to get a stand mixer as well but they were discontinues so they let me order one of equal value $300(kinda burned them cause we all know it was never $300)So I was able to order a Kitchen Aid mixer and I am soooooo excited about that. Guess I'll have to learn to cook soon ;o)))))

We've been framed!!

This wee was busy for us as we HAD to get the kitchen framed in so that the Home Depot people could come and take the measurements. The framing went really well and by Friday we had 75% of it all done! Now all we have to do is get Mikey back here to help finish - He's the pro and we need his expertise! Jason has been doing some more cement work on the front walls to make sure they are sound and no critters can get it...we will have deep window sills and they need to be strong - we are putting a window seat on the living room side. As you can imagine getting things square in this old house is a bit of a challenge and we have lost a few inches here and there, but it looks great and we have a Level floor - what a treat!
